The Costa Calida is beautiful! It is more often known as 'The region of Murcia' and it is a land of complete contrasts, of ‘laid back’ typically Spanish ‘Manana’ behaviour, yet has world class sporting centres. It has breathtaking scenery, protected nature reserves, a coastline of over 250km with secluded beaches, windsurfing schools, mega-marinas for the super rich, the world famous La Manga Strip and the beautiful Mar Menor (for more information click on this highlighted text the Mar Menor and the La Manga Strip. It boasts some of the most luxurious property developments in the whole of Spain (all of the Polaris World Resorts are in this region) yet is also home to one of the five Holy Cities of the world, the magical Caravaca de la Crux (for more information click on this highlighted text Caravaca de la Crux). It is unspoilt and beautiful! And it has “something for everyone”. Oh yes, it is also where we live!

Costa Calida means the ‘warm coast’, so with its mild temperatures and beautiful beaches it attracts swimmers and beach lovers throughout the year. The unique Mar Menor is a place of natural spa treatments using its mud and thermal waters which are beneficial for a variety of conditions.

It is a region of tremendous diversity and beauty. There are no high rise monstrosities here, and the coast line is mostly unspoilt, due to tight building controls and strong ‘Green Party’ political will. Over development is not a problem here. Even the world famous ‘La Manga Club’ is built inland, so although most people will have heard of the region, those that have discovered its beauty, culture, beaches and sports facilities tend to keep it a well guarded secret. But that is all changing, as the low-cost airlines now fly in increasing numbers into the regions airport at San Javier (Murcia). This airport secured a massive investment in April 2008 to double in size, and a second airport at Corvera will open in 2011. The northern part of the Costa Calida is a property ‘Hot Spot’ (for more information click on the highlighted text).

In complete contrast to its neighbour the Costa Blanca, most buyers buy inland and not along the coast, because inland is so beautiful and there are excellent roads to the coast. The most popular property locations, with northern Europeans as well as the Spanish themselves, are in the northern part of the Costa, mostly around the beautiful Mar Menor and inland towards the capital city of Murcia itself (for more information click on the highlighted text). And it is in this area that we specialise in, but no property that we market will be more than 20 to 30 minutes drive from the beach). It is also where we live and work too.

The region is now well serviced by a highly developed infrastructure of good roads, motorways, hotels, restaurants, rail links, supermarkets, schools, dozens of golf courses and good quality property developments. But more improvements are on the way – in early April 2008 a new motorway was opened and another is being built.

The beaches are beautiful but inland is breathtaking, with pretty little villages, ancient monuments, beautiful natural parks, scenic mountains and magical Holy Sites. The region retains a very Spanish feel throughout and the local festivals, especially at Easter and just after Christmas, and the annual Carnivals are not to be missed (for more information click on this highlighted text Spanish festivals and fiestas). This is much more ‘real Spain’ than the Costa Blanca.

Property prices are lower than the neighbouring Costa Blanca, but are rising AND are bucking the national trend by rising much faster than elsewhere. Our selecting the northern part of the Costa Calida is based upon the outstanding beauty of the area, the ‘airy’ and open feel here, the quality of the developments, the competitiveness of the pricing, the excellent beaches and the fact that this area teamed up with the southern Costa Blanca has earned itself the title of “The New Costa del Golf” so here in particular there is “something for everyone” – beach, golf, infrastructure, value for money, fantastic food and lots and lots of sunshine! It is an up and coming region, so buy now whilst the prices are still affordable!

Being selective as we are, spanish home 4u can offer you fantastic properties in beautiful surroundings and at excellent prices. We are not in the ‘cheap and cheerful’ property market – we are in the ‘dreams’ market (although some of our dream properties are at bargain prices!), so you can be assured that we will help to make your dream come true!
