There is no shortage of beach properties in this part of Spain. The southern Costa Blanca is very built up nowadays, with it is reported just one short stretch of rural land left untouched by developers (along the Orihuela Playas stretch of coastline), but for those wanting a ‘cosmopolitan’ environment for their Spanish property with the lifestyle that this brings, the southern Costa Blanca has a great deal to offer. There is no need to speak Spanish here, as sometimes it would be difficult to hear a single Spanish word being spoken, with menus written in numerous languages and shops to match many an English town centre. Prices are more ‘tourist’ than Spanish. It is one of the many areas we at spanish home 4 U have an in-depth knowledge of, being property owners here ourselves. Alicante airport is in the southern Costa Blanca so is the main airport of the region, but San Javier (Murcia) airport also serves this area. The northern Costa Calida (generally referred to as the region of Murcia) is a much less built up coastline, far less developed and much more ‘Spanish’ in feel. It is not ‘wall to wall’ buildings; it is much more rugged and natural. Along some stretches of coastline elderly Spanish ladies clothed in black cardigans can be seen walking their dogs, elderly men take a coffee and brandy at the numerous cafés and it is an altogether ‘calmer’ place. Prices are generally lower here too, not only for more everyday things, but for properties too. San Javier (Murcia) airport is in the northern Costa Calida so is the main airport of this region, but Alicante airport also serves this area. To be fair though it is possible to have the best of the Costa Blanca and the best of the Costa Calida in certain stretches of the northern Costa Calida, again another area we have a wealth of experience of, as it is in this region that we live and own properties in. But this region has something unique to offer - the La Manga Strip.
