Hi, I'm Andy, I am now 50 years young married to Louise just past 25 years and we have one son James who is 14.We had lived all our lives in the Peak District village of New Mills, near Stockport – Buxton area of the UK. A very scenic part of Great Britain, a small Lake District. We were in our first house for 11 years, a three bedroom semi and then moved to a 1930’s three bed detached with a large garden - it was great. We had two Westie’s at the time and they loved it. Our third house is in Spain.I have been self-employed for over 20 years having had my own successful business in the UK designing selling and building conservatories. It gave me great pleasure showing the client a computer image of what the conservatory would look like on their house and then several weeks later the finished conservatory was in use, just the same appearance as the representation on the computer, buying off-plan properties has the same appeal, but with a longer wait of course. It was on holiday in April 2004 in Lanzarote eating our evening meal on the outside terrace of the steak restaurant overlooking the harbour when out of the blue I said to Louise, wouldn’t it be nice to live and work in the sun? "Well, I would" was the reply. Back home again it was off to WH Smith where I bought all the Home Overseas magazines and read about where to buy/not to buy and everything else about different aspects about living abroad. Why leave the UK? Schooling, taxes, health care, cost of living, weather, transport, roads etc.Why Spain? All the reasons above but for the right reasons! We purchased our villa on El Valle off-plan in May 2004 - it ticked all the right boxes. We had to sell our house in the UK and arranged to move over to Spain when the property was near to completion. We rented a two bed, two bath apartment on Mosa Trajectum and workwise we have been looking after several properties and offering a key holding service. I also have been selling properties for a well known property company for the last 18 months, the only regret being that we should have moved to Spain years ago.Our son James did go to El Limonar International School in Murcia, learning Spanish and French and has been on a school trip back to England for a week. In 2008 he was off skiing to France with the school. The standard of education he is receiving is far in advance of that in the UK and he is doing very well indeed. James now attends Roldan school near Torre Pacheco, all lessons are in Spanish and by Christmas 2009 he should be fluent, watch this space for updates !!!! He has settled in well, has a great group of new friends and is very happy living in Spain. Louise was quite poorly in 2007 but the Spanish medical system, especially the Hospital at El Palmer Virgen Le Attrixica was unbelievable, a very big thank you to all the staff.
We now only have one Westie, Kate, who is 17 years old in August and is still going strong. I doubt she would be still with us but for the warm Spanish climate, so if you need to know about vets we can give you advice there too. Update March 09 Our 17 year old Westie sadly is no more but we now have a 4 month old Westie called Molllie who is keeping us busy. Her birthday is the 1st of November if you want to send her a card ! I look forward to meeting you; having a BBQ around our pool and guarantee we would make you feel at home in our home.
For further information on anything above we look forward to meeting you and showing you around the area and helping you choose the right property whether for investment, holiday home or permanent living, please contact me.
All the best!
